How to Resize an Image in Photoshop?

Step 1. Open an image

First, import the picture in Photoshop you want to resize.

To run a photo in Ps, head over to File > Open from the top bar. It brings you to your gallery.

From there, choose the photo you wish to change the dimension.

Here is the original picture that dimension is 2000 by 3000.

Step 2. Tap on Image > Image Size

From the top bar menu, go to Image > Image Size. Then, you can see a dialogue box like this:

Everything in the box is fine for me. I want to just resize the photo to 1000 by 1500.

To do that, I put 1000 values in Width and 1500 in the Height.

Make sure you check the Resample option. Then, click Ok to save the change.

Step 3. Save the photo

When you have done, save the picture by pressing Ctrl + S. And here is the output after resizing it.

How to Resize a Layer in Photoshop?

Step 1. Right-click on the layer you want to resize

In the very first step, right-click on the layer containing the photo you wish to resize.

Step 2. Go to Edit > Free Transform

From the top bar menu, tap on Edit > Free Transform. When you select this option, you can see a border appear around your photo.

Make sure you hold Shift from your keyboard while resizing the image. Otherwise, it may distort the photo.

Step 3. Press Enter or Checkmark icon to save

When you are satisfied or got the desired photo size, click on the checkmark icon to save it.

And here are the three image editing apps you can try to resize an image:

  • Paint (Windows default app)
  • Befunky (Online Photo Editor App)
  • Picmonkey (free online photo editing software)

How to use Paint to resize a photo?

First, open the image in Paint.

If you don’t know how to import a photo in Paint, then simply right-click on your image and choose Edit with Paint.

Second, after opening the photo in Paint, tap on Resize from the top left side of your screen.

When you click on the button, it will bring a dialogue box like this:

From there, choose Pixels next to Percentage.

Then, put your desired values in the Horizontal and Verticle box.

Here for this tutorial, I wish to keep the H and V according to 1000 and 1500.

Finally, click Ok to save the desired photo size.

How to use Befunky to resize a photo?

1st, go to the official page of Befunky. The homepage of it looks like the below screenshot.

2nd, from the homepage, tap on the Get Started button, and it brings the editing interface of Befunky.

Next, click on the Open button to import a photo. Befunky lets you open your photo from different sources including Computer, Google Drive, Google Photos, and more.

So, select an option to open the photo to edit with Befunky.

3rd, After opening an image, tap on Resize from the left toolbar menu.

When you tap on the Resize button, it opens up a dialogue box like this below screenshot.

From the dialogue box, put your desired value as you want to keep your Width and Height.

In my case, I choose this image dimension- 1000 by 1500.

Then, when you are done, click on the Apply button to save the format.

Finally, tap on the Save button from the top bar and select the option where you want to save your file.

How to use PicMonkey to resize a photo?

First, visit on Picmonkey by clicking here. The homepage of it looks like this:

Second, click on Edit a photo button, and it brings the editing interface of Picmonkey.

Note: If you don’t use Picmonkey before, then you need to Sign Up with your google account.

Third, from there, tap on the + icon to import a photo from Computer, Google Drive, and other sources.

And here is the photo I open in Picmonkey for resizing it.

Third, from the left toolbar, click on the Resize and put your desired value to change the image size.

Once you put the value, click on the Apply button to save the change.
